Video: WebChronos Flashback to Baselworld 2017

Our Chief Editor was interviewed at the end of this year’s Baselworld 2017 to summarise his views on the show by ace journalist Hirota Masayuki of Chronos Japan, recently published on their web edition on WebChronos.

It was a hectic Baselworld, as we have reported earlier in our Show Coverage reports. At the end of each day, the journalists would gather around the Press Room to clear up some reports and work. But the Press Room was also the venue for some, shall we say, spirited discussions. Who showed the most interesting chronograph? What about this tourbillon, or that World Timer? Who says this finishing is better than that? Discussions were never ending, open ended as they never will be a final answer, but superbly entertaining. All par for the course for covering the show.

When Hirota-san approached us before the fair to do an interview to summarise our impressions of he fair, we naturally jumped at it. Not only because it is always a pleasure to work with Chronos and Hirota-san, but also because we were to get a chance to have a final word on the discussions in the Press Room. Sort of.

As a quick summary, this is what we discussed in the video.

The questions ranged from general impression of the fair to specific picks. We re-iterated our mantra for 2017, #ComplicationsForLess as the underlying theme for the year’s novelties, both in SIHH as well as Baselworld.

And our sentiments on the market in Singapore.

And finally, the Chief Editor’s Top Picks for Baselworld, but distilled into three choices. The Omega Speedmaster Racing, the Rolex Cellini Moonphase and the Fabergé Visionnaire Chronographe.
