Spot the Watch: Ex WPP Sir Martin Sorrell

Deployant pays tribute to fellow ex-WPP staffer Sir Martin Sorrell. Sorrell, who in his younger years was a dead-ringer for a not so hairless George Costanza, recently resigned from WPP amidst a coming probe by the WPP board into alleged misconduct and misuse of funds. The WPP board meets in Mayfair tomorrow and shall deliberate over a dinner menu of tabbouleh salad to start, a main of wild sea bass, caviar and watercress and dessert of lemon, lime and mint pavlova.

In the meantime, let us celebrate Sorrell, and what appears to be his one and only good watch – the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph. The Overseas Chronograph, which was relaunched in 2016, is definitely a solid timepiece that befits the status of Sir Martin himself. One of the more interesting things is how Sir Martin wears his Overseas Chronograph on the steel bracelet, even though the watch comes with an additional leather and rubber strap. It goes to show how versatile the timepiece is, even without having the need to switch between the straps.

Of course, Martin Sorrell has, while very infrequently, been pictured wearing an Apple Watch – but that really doesn’t count.

We wish Sorrell all the best and we’re rather sure he’ll be fine with his estimated net worth in excess of $700 million. Maybe a new Vacheron Sir Martin?
