SEVENFRIDAY released the P3/07 KUKA III on October 31st this year, a robotics company inspired collection that was first seen in 2013 with the “P01/03 Automatic Orange Black” model. The automation and robotics company KUKA AG, with its signature orange industrial color was used as the design inspiration for the KUKA editions.  In 2016, the “P3/04 KUKA” edition was launched in a variant with more subtle orange highlights as compared to its predecessor for a more stealthy look. The latest of the KUKA limited editions, the SevenFriday P3/07 KUKA III is limited to 750 pieces and some say, a welcome addition to the collection.

The latest SevenFriday P3/07 KUKA III is as its name suggests a part of the P series of the brand and uses the same case shape and dial layout as the other earlier models. Cased in black PVD stainless steel, the watch is sandblasted with polished and sandblasted finishing. It measures 47MM X 47.6MM. For contrast, the bezel while also black PVD stainless steel, uses a sunray finish. The overall effect of the case, complete with the grooved ‘automation ring’, evokes a industrial tool-like design.

A third installment to the KUKA inspired collection, the P3/07 KUKA III is a limited edition of 750 pieces.

The Stainless steel black PVD sandblasted case measures 47MM X 47.6MM.

The dial display features six layers of orange and gun metal discs with “SEVENFRIDAY KUKA INSPIRED” printed in orange on gun metal. The hour hand in orange is filled with Super-Luminova®. Matt gun metal is used for the minutes wheel and hand, with matt orange around the ring and Super-Liminova® filled tip. The seconds disc features a six-hole punched design on gun metal with orange numbers from 05 to 55 every 10 second. A gun metal 24H disc indicates day hours in matt grey 06H-16H and night hours in matt orange 18H-04H. The watch uses a specially hardened mineral glass with anti-reflective coating.

The dial is a combination of six layers of orange and gun metal discs.

Positioned as a brand which is ‘International’ and non-swiss only, the watch uses the Japanese designed Miyota 82S7, a self-winding movement with 40H power reserve. A cut out section of the dial at 7 o’clock reveals the balance wheel of the movement.

The polished stainless steel caseback bears the KUKA insignia.

The caseback is made in polished stainless steel and bears the KUKA insignia. A fun use of technology to authenticate the watch, an NFC chip is embedded behind the globe, and allows verification via the SevenFriday Android app and authorized retailers.
