Press Release: Roger Dubuis – Excalibur Spider goes for pole position

Roger Dubuis’ new tagline “Dare to be Rare” resonates well with its latest collaboration with race car tyre maker Pirelli on three Excalibur Spider models inspired by performance oriented industries and supercar supremacy.

These three timepieces in the Excalibur Spider series combines the signature features of the Roger Dubuis skeleton timepieces with the unmistakable racing design stamp of the brand’s recent luxury alliances. This however, does not come as a surprise; afterall the company is known for its bold approach to progressive complications as well as introducing disruptive, creative and unique materials.

Boldness and extravagance are the brand’s signatures, and this is manifested in the three designs shown below.

The Excalibur Spider Double Flying Tourbillon

Excalibur Spider Double Flying Tourbillon

Roger Dubuis pulled out all the stops for the Excalibur Spider Double Flying Tourbillon, recognizing the importance of every single detail in this watch. The attraction of the watch is in its reflection of the specific colour coding typical of supercar dashboards. The sprightly orange shade of the rubber overmolding is picked up on the two-tone skeleton dial as well as the strap and stitching, to acknowledge the bright multi-colour details on race cars made up of different parts and materials.

The twin flying tourbillons at 5 and 7 o’clock are rimmed by speedometer-type small seconds displays, while the multi-coloured power-reserve indicator on the left of the dial denoting “high” and “low” is a cool nod to race car cockpit fuel gauges.

This complicated yet easy-to-wear model is powered by brand-new hand-wound mechanical skeleton Calibre RD105SQ, made up of 366 components, which features a power reserve of 52 hours.

The Excalibur Spider Double Flying Tourbillon has a limited edition of 28 pieces in the world.

Excalibur Spider Automatic Skeleton – Titanium bezel

The Excalibur Spider Skeleton Automatic features two different materials used individually on the bezel for latest series; customers can have the option of either the 18k pink gold or titanium. The soft and warm glow of the pink gold provides a stark contrast to the futuristic-looking titanium. Although both pieces look almost identical, one would know exactly which piece to go for if there is a personal preference on the kind of impression your timepiece is to evoke.

The self-winding RD820SQ Caliber on the Skeleton Automatic is fully decorated and features a power reserve of 60 hours.

Both designs are limited to a production run of 88 pieces each, demonstrating how Roger Dubuis maintains its resolutely exclusive approach to watchmaking.
