The new Omega Speedmaster Automatic. It’s essentially the same watch, but with a new dial, color theme design and a perforated strap. At first glance, the seconds track on the periphery of the dial looked very much like a checkerboard pattern on the race tracks. Although it is not the most pleasant visual stimuli, the design is still pretty interesting nonetheless.

The new Omega Speedmaster Automatic, with a much needed reduction in thickness as compared to its predecessor.

Other notable features on the dial include the orange markings and bevelled 18K white gold arrowhead indexes that are filled with white Super-LumiNova. For this model, the subdials have also been slightly expanded for improved readability and the 44.25 mm case is thinner than previous versions owing to a reduction in thickness of the sapphire crystal.

The auto sports theme is evident through the watch’s design, complete with race track influences, and the iconic perforated strap.

The polished ceramic bezel features a brushed Liquidmetal® tachymeter scale as well as contrasting orange text that matches the colour of the varnished hands and tip of the seconds hand. On the wrist, the perforated black leather strap sandwiches an orange rubber skin through the middle, for the contrasting color scheme.

The Speedmaster Automatic represents the next Speedmaster model with Master Chronometer certification. Driven by the calibre 9900, the watch and its movement have reached the Swiss industry’s highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic resistance, as approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Meteorology (METAS).

Retail price is at SGD $11,700

This model nicknamed “Cappuccino” has its case in stainless steel and 18K Sedna™ gold, while the strap is made from taupe-brown leather.

Targeted at the ladies’ cross jewellery segment, the watch is set with a diamond-paved bezel surrounding a brown tachymeter scale. Intuitively strange, we must say, especially for all who are used to the sporty tool design of the iconic chronograph.

A two-tone watch with a contrasting steel and gold case, the watch is priced at SGD $12,900.

The watch features a bi-colour dial with unique oval subdials in brown. The closed caseback is stamped with the Speedmaster’s Seahorse medallion. The watch is driven by the OMEGA Calibre 3330, complete with Co-Axial technology and a silicon balance spring.
