The Jaeger LeCoultre Geophysic is an iconic watch which straddles both the mastery of technical watchmaking and beautiful aesthetics. We covered this amazing watch when it was first launched with a detailed hands-on review here. For SIHH 2018, a special limited edition of the Geophysic True Second is released with an ocean blue dial. And with this new watch, the grand maison, goes e-commerce, as the watch is only available on their online boutique.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic True Second Limited Edition is now presented with the new blue dial in a stainless steel case.

Jumping on to the blue dial bandwagon, the new Geophysic True Second Limited Edition boasts of a dial with a deep ocean blue, which conjures up the fathomless depths explored during the International Geophysical Year, when the Geophysic was first introduced in 1958. Our earlier review is recommended reading:

The dial is the new item in this 100 piece limited edition. Other than the mesmerising blue hue, a sunburst pattern creates a play of light that sets off the alternating polished and brushed features of the case.

The blue dial has a sunburst pattern which is rather mesmerising.

The center is a cross, reminding the shape of location-mapping instruments is a carry over from the original 1958 model which was eliminated for a sleeker look on the 2015 models.

The movement remains the same workhorse Caliber 770, boasting of a remontoir to produce the seconde morte.

The hands, which are triple-faceted hands and the minute track around the flange are coated in luminescent material. The wtch is delivered with a  brown calfskin strap with an interesting patina.

Another very interesting aspect of this new limited edition is that it will not be available in stores, but exclusively on the Jaeger-LeCoultre online boutique.

Price: CHF 10,400 including VAT, only available in the Jaeger-LeCoultre online Boutique, at www.jaeger-lecoultre.com

  1. Without the cross this watch is perfect, but as is the dial is too cluttered and messy. Maybe they should’ve done the cross in either a contrasting colour or matte black?
That pink gold rotor though… spectacular
