Highlights of the Horological Fortnight for the week ending May 17, 2015

Breguet Inventions May 4 and 5

Cocktail Evening

Deployant organized a private cocktail event with our collector community on 4 May. Some 28 of our collector guests turned up for the cocktails, including 2 gate crashers who were not on the invite list. They say, you’ve made it if people gate crash your event. Grins!

As our focus on Deployant is on Building Communities, we also included the NUS Horological Club, a special interest project we under-took to build the next generation of watch collectors and enthusiasts.

Dr. Nakis Karapatis, Head of R&D Laboratories at Montres Breguet SA flew in especially for the events to enlighten the guests on the 4 inventions of Breguet.

Bulgari Press Cocktails May 12

We attended the Bulgari Press cocktails on the afternoon of May 12. Bulgari showed many BaselWorld and post Basel novelties. Some of the pieces were scheduled for a September launch, and curiously, there is no embargo on these watches. We will carry detail hands-on reports on these pieces soon. In the meantime, Bulgari showed they know how to entertain, and know their whiskey.

As a series of events to showcase the Harmony collection and to celebrate Vacheron Constantin’s 260th Anniversary, the Grande Dame held a series of events. Deployant attended the Press Lunch on May 11, and co-organized the private dinner on May 13.

The Deployant Collector Community was represented by 25 collectors who attended the dinner, and American Express Centurion capped the evening’s guest numbers at 40 with another 15.

Guests were treated to the spectacular Harmony Collection, comprising of a Chronograph, a Chronograph and Tourbillon, an Ultra Thin Split Seconds chronograph, and a Dual Time. Included in the collection are two ladies specific pieces in the Chronograph and the Dual Time series. We will cover these very interesting watches in our detailed hands-on reviews soon.

Artistic Director of Vacheron Constantin, Christian Selmoni was at hand to explain the inspiration behind the series and the design concepts and philosophy.
