When it comes to aviation watches, Breguet is probably not one of the first few watchmakers that would come to mind. It is a pity, considering that they have played a significant role in the French military.

For this year’s Baselworld, Breguet had decided to upgrade the Type XXI and make the stunning pilot’s watch even better.

First off, the watch features a vintage look that reflects the provenance and heritage of this chronograph. It features a retro-style slate grey dial, accompanied with creamy brownish Arabic numerals that look as though its luminescent had patina-ed over the years. To accentuate the classic looks, the watch is even paired with a dark brown calfskin strap.

Next, the Type XXI is fitted with an improved movement that contains silicon components. The Breguet manufactured Calibre 584Q/2 also features the quintessential functions, such as the fly-back chronograph, day/night indicator, as well as a date indicator. On top of that, the automatic movement boasts a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

Finally, the 42mm Breguet Type XXI is fitted with a sapphire crystal caseback to display its beautiful movement. This is a first in the collection, and one that the fans have been waiting ages for. With this, the Type XXI is now able to showcase the magnificent Breguet movement, and we are sure that it would definitely attract even more collectors to this wonderful watchmaker.
