Breguet are well-known for their traditional and complicated timepieces, considering that they have such a long and illustrious history in watchmaking. But for this one, we are going back to the basics.
The Breguet Classique 7147 is what we consider as a simple and classy dress watch – no complications, ultra-thin, with refined good looks.
One of the hallmarks of a Breguet timepiece is its dial decorations. According to the watchmaker, these decorative codes (not limited to the dial alone) served as a purpose to avoid premature tarnishing and strengthened the polished surfaces from damages like scratches. Over time, Breguet had incorporated all these decorations more for the aesthetics, and the results are simply stunning.

For the new Classique 7147, the watch is fitted with an entirely engine-turned silvered gold dial that features the “Clou de Paris” hobnail decoration. In contrast, the small second sub-dial at the 5 o’clock position features a cross weave pattern instead. Additionally, the dial is fitted with a chapter ring that bears Roman numerals. Finally, it is paired with a pair of blued steel Breguet hands, as well as the Breguet secret signature that is engraved on the either side of the 12 o’clock numerals.
The watch is powered by Breguet’s Ultra-Thin Cal. 502.3SD, which can be observed from the sapphire crystal caseback that is fitted on the back of the watch. This is a self-winding movement, and it features a power reserve of around 45 hours.
Cased in either 18k rose or white gold, the 40mm timepiece is definitely a dressy timepiece that is fit for the corporate lifestyle. Do check Breguet’s website here for more information.
