Baselworld 2016: Breitling Avenger Hurricane

The name Breitling is synonymous with aviation and masculinity, with most of its timepieces exuding a certain sense of manliness and coolness. The latest novelty from the famed Grenchen-based watchmaker is no exception as well.

Well, for a start, the watch does possess a rather aggressive nomenclature: Avenger Hurricane. But what is more important lies beyond its namesake, and we are glad to say that the massive 50mm timepiece seems to be a rather formidable on paper.

One of the main highlights of the Avenger Hurricane is its case, in which it is made with a material called Breitlight. This is a new material that is produced by Breitling, and it is said to be 3.3 times lighter than Titanium. At the same time, it is also much more robust and harder then both steel and titanium. To add on, the Breitlight is also resistance to scratches, traction and corrosion, in addition to its anti-magnetic and anti-allergic properties. Oh, and it has a water resistant of up to 100m. It is very impressive, admittedly.

The watch is fitted with an in-house Caliber B12. This is an automatic movement that features a 24-hour time display, a chronograph, as well as a date indicator. In addition, the COSC-certified movement boasts a power reserve of around 70 hours.

At 50mm, the Avenger Hurricane is surely a masculine timepiece with a great wrist presence.

Notably, the watch is made with practicality in mind. Some of these touches include a rather legible dial (enhanced with luminescent hands and numerals), a glare-proof sapphire crystal, as well as the placement of non-slip grips on the crown and the pushes of the watch.

The Breitling Avenger Hurricane is fitted with a high-resistance black Military textile fiber strap, paired with yellow rubber core and sides. The strap compliments the stealthy and macho timepiece, and we think that this timepiece is ideal for someone who has a thing or two for big solid watches.
