Glashutte Original, as many might have known, is a watchmaker from Saxony. Just like other German watchmakers, Glashutte Original offers both value and quality in their works and creations. This time, in Baselworld, the folks are back again with a new and innovative model: the Senator Cosmopolite.

The Senator Cosmopolite is a sequel of the Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon that was launched back in 2012. The new timepiece is designed for a frequent traveler, and yet it tries to remain as user-friendly as possible for everyday usage.

One of the key features of the Senator Cosmopolite is the ability of the watch to track two timezone simultaneously, with a time zone wheel that allows 37 different time zones to be displayed. The 37 different time zones are named accordingly to their IATA code, and the time zones that are offset with the GMT by full-hour, half-hour, quarter/ three-quarter hours are color-coded to make the identification a little bit easier.

Despite the myriad of complications, the Glashutte Original Senator Cosmopolite features a dial that is rather uncluttered and user friendly to comprehend.

Other complications on the Senator Cosmopolite includes a power reserve indicator, a day and night indicator, as well as Panorama Date Display. Despite the presence of a myriad of complications, the dial of the Senator Cosmopolite is rather uncluttered and it is pretty easy to comprehend. This is something that is very welcoming, especially since many watchmakers tend to over-complicate the dial and making it a pain in the butt to tell time. Glashutte Original has got it right with this timepiece.

The Glashutte Original Senator Cosmopolite is also available in rose gold.

The Senator Cosmopolite is powered by Glashutte Original’s new Calibre 89-02, an automatic movement that features a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The 89-02 operates at 4 Hz (28,800 A/h) and features an off-centre rotor. The oscillation system is regulated by using four gold screws on the balance rim; the absence of a regulator on the spring allows the movement to run continuously over a much longer period of time, resulting in increased precision.

The Glashutte Original Senator Cosmopolite is rather beautiful, when it is contrasted with the blue hands and the the silver dial.

The 44mm Glashutte Original Senator Cosmopolite is available in both white gold and red gold. While we have not tried it on wrist yet, we think that it is going to be a rather nice dress piece for the executives. At 44mm, it may be a bit too big, but that also depends on the individual’s wrist size as well. But this is definitely one interesting piece for the frequent flying executive to look at.
